Background & practice
After working with Toyo Ito, Sejima opened her own office in 1987. She co-founded SANAA with Ryue Nishizawa in 1995 while retaining an independent practice.
How to read the work
At the Rolex Learning Center, SANAA used a continuous, undulating interior to allow study, meeting and circulation to coexist without conventional corridors.
Professional recognition
2010 Pritzker Architecture Prize, jointly with Ryue Nishizawa.
Attribution note
The Rolex Learning Center and 2010 Pritzker award are shared with Nishizawa.
