UIA Gold Medal
An international distinction for an architect’s outstanding contribution to the profession and society.
What it recognises
The UIA Council created the medal in 1984; the first recipient was Hassan Fathy in 1985. Nominations come through professional organizations, and the medal is separate from the UIA’s other prizes.

Awards may recognise an individual, a building or a practice. Recognition of a founder is not an award for every project produced by their firm.
