Where it fits
Repeated housing layouts or unit families where a firm already knows what should be reused and what must remain editable.
What goes in
A Plan Library assembled from past projects, with the firm’s design rules and constraints.
What comes out
Generated layouts and BIM geometry; Finch lists Rhino, Revit and Grasshopper interoperability.
How to read the capability
Finch positions its library as the starting point for generation, with its Archie agent handling repetitive adjustments. The important procurement question is therefore how well your own standards can be encoded, updated and inspected—not merely how attractive a demonstration plan looks.
Limits to keep in view
Claims about code alignment and coordinated exports are vendor assertions, not GAD test results. An outdated library can reproduce outdated assumptions. Local approval, detailed coordination and exported object quality require independent review.
A practical evaluation checklist
Load one accepted and one deliberately unsuitable unit; see whether the library distinguishes their permitted uses.
Alter a door or corridor rule and inspect every affected linked unit for missed changes.
Open an exported model in your actual BIM template; inspect levels, categories, parameters and editability.
