Rafael Aranda completed his architectural studies at ETSAV in 1987 and founded RCR Arquitectes in Olot the following year with Carme Pigem and Ramon Vilalta.

Rafael Aranda completed his architectural studies at ETSAV in 1987 and founded RCR Arquitectes in Olot the following year with Carme Pigem and Ramon Vilalta. A competition-winning lighthouse proposal helped the studio establish an approach attentive to the essence of a building type. Their work developed through commissions in Catalonia before expanding elsewhere in Europe. The three founders jointly received the 2017 Pritzker Architecture Prize.
