Edward John McCoy, known as Ted McCoy, began practice in Dunedin after graduating from Auckland's architecture school. An early commission was Aquinas Hall and Chapel, designed in 1950. Peter Wixon joined him in 1968, and their practice produced houses, educational buildings and churches. NZIA's 2002 Gold Medal profile also records healthcare and commercial work, presenting a career spanning the different institutions and everyday needs of the city.
