Carme Pigem founded RCR Arquitectes with Rafael Aranda and Ramon Vilalta in their home city of Olot in 1988, after completing studies at ETSAV. The practice first developed through work in Catalonia and has maintained a close relationship between its architectural ideas and local circumstances. Its founders have also presented their work through international exhibitions. Pigem shared the 2017 Pritzker Architecture Prize with her two partners.
