Balkrishna Doshi studied architecture in Mumbai, worked with Le Corbusier in Paris, and returned to India to oversee projects in Chandigarh and Ahmedabad. He later collaborated with Louis Kahn on the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Doshi founded his own practice in 1956. His work developed from these international exchanges while drawing on Indian cultural experience, everyday life and the physical forces shaping local places.
