Background & practice
A. Howard Sutcliffe is a founding partner of Shim-Sutcliffe Architects, working with Brigitte Shim. Both completed environmental studies and architecture degrees at the University of Waterloo. The RAIC's joint 2021 Gold Medal profile links their built work with architecture's cultural and spiritual dimensions and its relationship to landscape. Recognition is attached to their collaborative practice, so shared buildings are not divided into unsupported individual design roles.
